General Information

It was not long ago, when the major interests of musical production shifted
towards more utilization of MIDI equipment and hard disk recordings. Thanks
to the latest enormous development of the computer processor, it is widely
possible to generate sound or modify sound with a personal computer in real
time. It is extensively utilized for artistic applications, such as live
performance and the projection of sound installations etc. Therefore, this
"MSP Summer School" is now taking place with the literal theme, "MSP"(*),
which is now the most remarkable interactive signal processing environment.
Our guests, David Zicarelli and Leslie Stuck will instruct the MSP.

The "MSP Summer School" is divided into two courses. One is for beginners
and one is for those with experience. The participants learn "MSP" from an
elementary level to an advanced level with a practical method, and each
participant works with a computer during the workshop. Evening sessions are
also prepared in order to talk further specific themes and to exchange
ideas, as well as presentations of artistic examples with MSP

Besides the diverse instructors, all participants, artists in various
fields, researchers and so on will gather in this summer workshop. This
workshop is also for those interested in new possibilities of technology
and artistic expressions that MSP offers.

(*) In conjunction with MAX, you can also produce sound with MSP in real
time. You don't need to have a MIDI instrument anymore, only your Macintosh
PowerPC. MAX/MSP is a graphical music programming environment. For
examples, you can just connect a box to a box with a wire and you can learn
this easily.
