i've done some experimenting in the past and noticed quality degredation
on the mac compared to windows, using the same video file, same
realproducer version.  came as a surprise since the encoding algorithm
should be the same.

quicktime4 does live streaming and have heard compares well with g2; which
is pretty crappy if you're doing video.
