documentary about r a d i o q u a l i a's radio astronomy

the documentary was made by r a d i o q u a l i a and jamillah knowles
from the world service and will broadcast on the 'outlook' programme.
listeners can tune in via SW, FM or AM radio or listen online at

______ about radio astronomy
radio astronomy is an art/science project which will broadcasts sounds
intercepted from space live on the internet and on the airwaves. it is
launching in august 2004
the project is a collaboration between r a d i o q u a l i a, and radio
telescopes located throughout the world. together we are creating
'radio astronomy' in the literal sense - a radio station devoted to
broadcasting audio from our cosmos. it will manifest as an online and
on-air radio station, which will broadcast sounds intercepted from
space, and a sound installation.
the content of the live transmission and installation will depend on
the objects being observed by the partner telescopes. on any given
occasion listeners may hear planets in our solar system, radiation from
the sun, activity from far-off pulsars or other astronomical phenomena.
radio astronomy is a collaboration between r a d i o q u a l i a, the
windward community college radio observatory in hawaii, usa, nasa's
radio jove network, the ventspils international radio astronomy centre
in latvia. and the cultural centre rixc in latvia. radio astronomy has
been supported by the daniel langlois foundation.
