All of the performances will also take place in their virtual locations

participating in Reverie or the DREAM telephone-cast can contact
Peter Courtemanche at 876-9343 or <reverie-info@xxxxxxxxxxx>.

Reverie is a virtual urban landscape (on the Web). Inside this city, an
ever-expanding group of international sound artists will build venues
for their work. Over time, the growing collection of audio art venues
will define a structure of neighbourhoods and communities in which
artists plan time-based events and engage other inhabitants in
collaboration and exchange. Reverie includes artist-in-residence
projects, artist talks, presentations, streaming events, and a
catalogue with an accompanying audio CD.

---------------------------------------------------------

January 17th is the birthday of Art!

To celebrate Art's 1,000,0042nd Birthday and in combination with the
Western Front's Reverie project, we are organizing a 24 hour web-cast of audio
art under the theme of DREAM.

The works should be up to 10 minutes long. Artists can participate in different
 ways:

 1. phone-in and the phone call will be relayed over the Internet.
 2. send us a pre-recorded piece on CD, DAT, cassette.
 3. send us a MP3 file over the Internet.
4. artists who are in Vancouver can perform their work live in our concert hall.

The broadcast time will be done at the time of your own birth, so provide a
start time according to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

It can be your birth time, but if it is a collective this can be the time the
band was formed too, not all the members birthdays.

Only one work per submitter (unless you were born twice).

There will also be some pre-birthday performances on the January 14-16.
If you would like to send a phone call to DREAM, contact us at <reverie-
 info@xxxxxxxxxxx>

 "Art's Birthday"

is an annual event first proposed in 1963 by French artist Robert Filliou.

He suggested that 1,000,000 years ago, there was no art. But one day, on the
17th of January to be precise, Art was born. According to Filliou, it happened
when someone dropped a dry sponge into a bucket of water. Modest
beginnings, but look at us now.

Filliou proposed a public holiday to celebrate the presence of art in our lives. In
recent years, the idea has been taken up by a loose network of artists and
 friends around the world.

Each year the Eternal Network evolves to include new partners - working with
the ideas of exchange and telecommunications-art.
