Could you spare one minute of your day to take part in a unique radio
experiment and get your recording onto BBC Radio 4?
Soundscape Productions have been commissioned by BBC Radio 4 to produce
a ëRadio Poemí which explores what happens during one particular minute
in one particular day throughout the UK. Presented by Sean Street and
produced by Andy Cartwright ëThen-Nowí will create a 28 minute radio
programme out of hundreds of recordings of a single minute of time.
Would you like to be part of the ëTHEN-NOWí poem ñ by making a
recording of whatever you are doing at 6pm on the Wednesday 9th of
November 2005?
We want to collect recordings made at a variety of locations ñ eg the
sounds of people travelling [train, bus, car, railway stations, bus
stations, taxi offices] homes [kitchens, garages, residential homes
etc..] shops, hotels, pubs, doctorís waiting rooms, playing fields,
takeaways, hospitals, libraries etc. But please avoid recording other
forms of media and try to avoid music backgrounds - unless you can
supply music logging details.
BUT I only want recordings of actuality, conversation and sounds made
between 6 and one minute past 6 on this Wednesday evening [9th Nov].
We will accept recordings made on any piece of sound recording
equipment or video equipment [using a separate microphone if possible]
in any format - MiniDisc, CD, DAT, Audio Cassette, Digital Video, DVD
etc... Please mark your recording with your name, the location of your
recording and clearly state where the minute begins and ends. For
example: ìMy Kitchen, London Road, Northampton. Track 2 -
02.43-03.43î
Unfortunately [because of the number of recordings] we are unable to
offer a fee ñ just the fun and excitement of taking part in a unique
radio experiment. But it will cost you nothing to send us your
contribution.
If you are interested in taking part in 'Then-Now' email us now at:-
then.now@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and visit our Website at
www.soundscapeproductions.co.uk which contains information on recording
techniques, hints as to what to record, how to remember to do your
