hi all
in the preperation of n5m3 a lot of people write to me they want to
bring their own transmitter. there are two things that need to be made
clear, and I will talk about it in the streaming media workshop at
n5m3 too:
1: most transmitters are CRAP! concerning transmitters available on
the internet (as design), these are 90 % bad. Do not ever buy a
transmitter from someone you do not know much about.
especially transmitters that use more then 20 watts are a risk.
2: unless you don't care about being busted straightaway, it is wise
to choose a frequency that is available (free). As the ether is being
sold, there is very little space left. In Amsterdam we are using just
about every frequency avaible for n5m3. You can't just plunge in without
careful planning.
ether situation and ether police are different in every country of course.
sometimes it does not matter if you disturb every receiver in the
vicinity for a moment, or other stations, or airtraffic, to just name
a few. But mostly you have rely on good technicians who know the local
situation well.
greetsz
