Where are the artists on the web? Is the web a sticky trap or a limitless prospect? Can artists carve a meaningful presence on the web? Is anyone actually seeing artists¹ work? Who should disseminate work? How can work best be seen on the web? What is needed to make it all happen? <BR>

The Media Arts Section of the Canada Council for the Arts is launching a web site in conjunction with a new initiative that aims to ensure that Canadian media artists have an informed, active presence in Web dissemination. In this project, the view of web work is broad and includes the dissemination of work that was not originally produced for the Web (videotapes and film, audio works) in addition to work that only exists in the Web environment (Web movies, webcasts, work with hypertext links). The website includes a not-to-be-missed survey opportunity and invites commentary and feedback from you. <BR>

Le Service des arts médiatiques du Conseil des Arts du Canada lance un nouveau site Web en appui à un projet du Conseil visant à procurer aux artistes médiatiques canadiens une présence active et éclairée dans le domaine de la diffusion sur Internet. Ce projet cybernétique perçoit les oeuvres dans une perspective élargie et englobe la diffusion de celles qui n'étaient pas initialement destinées à Internet (bandes vidéos et films, enregistrements sonores) outre celles de nature cybernétique (films créés pour le Web, télédiffusion sur le Web, ouvres avec liens hypertextes). Le site Web comprend un sondage, occasion à ne pas manquer, et il invite à réagir et à s'exprimer. <BR>
